3 Good Reasons to have Hobbies

There are so many reasons why hobbies are good for us. Here are three...

  1. They bring us into the present. Having difficulty in life is not an if but a when. We all face life's hardships and joys. To give your brain a break from ruminating and a release from the intensity of your distress, having a hobby is a wonderful way to take time out and think about something pleasant. Even if our thoughts persist, there is comfort in doing something we enjoy that gives us the strength we need to get through.

  2. Hobbies keep us learning and developing. For some of us, our work, whether in the home or outside can use the same set of skills repeatedly. It's thrilling for the brain to learn something new, even if it's a new stitch or technique. That feeling of expanding ourselves and reaching new potential brings new strength to our lives.

  3. Hobbies have a way of connecting us with other people. Even if you're not a social butterfly, Hobbies can allow us to be alongside others with shared interests. Hobbies take the awkwardness out of meeting new people because you're all there doing the same thing and you all have something in common to talk about. What's more, creativity actually awakens the part of our brain that wants to be sociable! We know that having a social network, even if its just people you meet at a craft class, makes us happier.

If you'd like to explore new hobbies and friendships my Circle of Seasons Craft Collective might be really fun for you. Just pop over to the events page to see what we have going on and to book a spot.
