How to keep creating through Chronic Illness & Exhaustion

We all know the why nowadays. Creativity is proven to increase health and wellbeing. There is no debate.

However for many people, myself included, it can feel like another thing to add to the to do list at times. ..and that list is already too long with energy being the main thing that holds us back.

Here are a few ideas to make creativity easier and a more regular activity for you:

  1. Organise yourself a box in the rooms you spend most time in and have a project there that's easy to grab and work on while you're resting. This is honestly why I love embroidery- no fancy equipment required. Just you, a needle and thread and your project. For me rest and creating go hand in hand.

  2. Spend a little time each morning planning your day. Allocate specific rest/create times and allow yourself to prioritise that. I use the calendar in my phone to plan my day so I can immediately see if I've over committed or I can schedule in rest/creativity to recover from more difficult activities.

  3. Make it easy for yourself. Even though I love designing my own embroideries, I am a massive fan of a kit. The cognitive load is taken care of. All you have to do is sew. There are so many beautiful ones out there but do be careful of bad quality and AI generated kits. They never look anything like the picture. I recommend Rowandean, Hawthorn Handmade andOh Sew Beautiful. There are lots out there to choose from!

Wishing you a peaceful week with quiet, mindful crafts to make you happy!
